At Online Shia Quran Academy (OSQA), we believe every Shia Muslim = no matter where they live = deserves access to high-quality, authentic Islamic and Quranic education. We were founded by a group of dedicated Shia scholars and educators who recognised the growing need for reliable online Islamic learning tailored specifically to the Jaffari school of thought.
Our platform bridges the distance between students across the Americas, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, and Asia with verified scholars trained at renowned institutions in Qom, Najaf, and Pakistan. Through live 1-on-1 video classes, we deliver the same intimacy and depth of traditional Islamic study circles = digitally, at any time zone.
Today, we proudly serve hundreds of students across 26+ countries, ranging from young children learning their first Arabic letters, to adults seeking advanced Tafseer or Nahjul Balaghah studies.

The Story Behind OSQA
Online Shia Quran Academy began with a simple but powerful observation: millions of Shia Muslims living in Western countries, Africa, and East Asia had limited access to qualified Shia teachers for themselves and their children. Local mosques were few, dedicated Shia Quranic schools were rare, and trusted online alternatives were almost non-existent.
A small team of scholars, educators, and technology enthusiasts came together with a shared conviction = that the internet could be used as a vehicle for ilm (knowledge) and tarbiyah (moral upbringing). They built a simple but rigorous platform: careful teacher selection, structured syllabi based on Shia scholarship, and live 1-on-1 classes conducted via Zoom and Skype.
Word spread through Shia communities in the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia. Families who had struggled to find a trustworthy teacher could now connect with verified Alims and Alimas from the comfort of their homes. Children who grew up without access to a Maktab now had a path to Quranic literacy. Adults rediscovering their faith found a welcoming, pressure-free space to learn.
Today, OSQA has grown from a handful of teachers into a thriving academic community spanning over 26 countries. We remain committed to the same founding principles: authenticity, accessibility, and academic excellence = always in the path of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (a.s).

Safety & Privacy
All classes are conducted in a private, controlled Zoom environment. Female teachers teach sisters in completely separate, private sessions. Parent monitoring is available for young children.

How We Select Our Teachers
Hiring at OSQA is not a simple application process. We believe the quality of a student's learning depends almost entirely on the quality of their teacher. That is why we apply a thorough selection process before any teacher joins our faculty.
- Academic Verification = All credentials from Qom, Najaf, Hawza or Pakistani institutions are independently verified
- Shia Fiqh Knowledge Test = Teachers must demonstrate mastery of Jaffari jurisprudence
- Teaching Demo = A trial teaching session observed by our academic board
- Character Assessment = Personal references and community standing verified
- Ongoing Evaluation = Regular student feedback is monitored and reviewed by management
Male Teachers
Our male scholars include trained Maulanas and Qaris from Jamiat-ul-Mustafa (Qom), Hawza Ilmiyya (Najaf), and leading Pakistani seminaries. They teach all Quranic and Islamic courses.

Completion Certificates
